A monkey stole a tourist's smartphone and recorded a video for 45 minutes (13 photos + 1 video)
Ashley Hoak, 26, was filming monkeys in Uluwatu, Bali, when one of them snatched her phone from her hand. The impudent thief refused to exchange the device for nuts and disappeared into the jungle, where she continued filming the adventure.
Ashley and her friend, 27-year-old Sabrina Waibel, chased the primate through the woods for 45 minutes using a tracker before finding an abandoned phone with a surprise in it.
During this time, the curious monkey recorded his journey through the forest, stopping from time to time to poke his fingers at the camera or look at himself on the screen.
In the footage, taken moments before the theft, the primate approaches the girl and shows his teeth, after which he snatches the smartphone.
“I thought the monkey would become cute if I was nice to him and gave him good energy, but he kept showing his teeth!” - Ashley admitted.
The girls tried to negotiate with the thief. Apparently, realizing the value of the thing, the monkey rushed into the forest.
Sabrina, from Hampton Roads, Virginia, USA, said: "I immediately started documenting what was happening, my camera was already at the ready."
As a result, the tailed vlogger got tired of filming and threw away his smartphone.
Bali has a large monkey population, and park staff always warn tourists to keep an eye on their belongings.
