In mid-June, Sotheby's in the UK will put up for auction a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta sports car. Only 165 of these cars were built. Experts tentatively valued the rare car with original components at $7.6 million.
The 250 family included different models. The GT SWB version was actually a racing car disguised as a Gran Turismo coupe. From 1959 to 1962, 165 of these cars were made, differing in specifications.
SWB stands for Short Wheelbase. It is 2400 millimeters, which is 200 millimeters less than the previous 250 GT Berlinetta TdF. The car received a more streamlined body and a lightweight chassis. It was the first Ferrari to feature disc brakes as a factory option.
