A flight attendant was arrested for smuggling almost one kilogram of gold: before a flight from Muscat (Oman) to Kannur (India), she hid the precious metal in her rectum.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence intercepted crew member Surabhi Khatun, a native of Kolkata, who arrived from Muscat at Kannur International Airport on Tuesday, May 28.
During the search, 960 grams of smuggled gold alloy was found hidden in her rectum, news agency Press Trust of India reported.
After interrogation and investigative actions, the flight attendant was brought before the court and was sentenced to 14 days in prison. By the way, this is the first time in India that an airline crew member has been arrested for smuggling gold in such an unusual way.
A detailed investigation has been launched. The evidence collected so far indicates that the person involved in this story had previously been involved in gold smuggling several times.
