How pickpockets work: a thief revealed her secret to a CCTV camera (5 photos + 2 videos)

A CCTV camera at a clothing store in London's Stamford Hill captured shocking footage. You can see with your own eyes the cunning way a pickpocket is trying to get into the purse of one of the customers.

A thief in dark clothes, taking several items of clothing from a hanger, moves closer to the woman with the stroller. She is behind her, holding a clothes hanger in one hand - and uses it to cover her other, “working” hand.

Under such convenient cover, the thief reaches into the victim's purse and unzips it. But he doesn’t have time to profit - at that moment the woman with the stroller moves away.

The pickpocket does not lose hope of finishing what she started: she follows the victim in an attempt to repeat the maneuver again.

Realizing that the case will not work out, the thief leaves the clothes on the hanger and leaves the store.

The victim of the failed robbery did not notice anything, but an eyewitness noticed the strange behavior of the pickpocket, and he reported it to the store administration. And she already picked up the recordings from the CCTV camera.

Just a couple of days before the incident, another pickpocket was caught on video at a clothing store in St James's Park. One man grabs another by the collar and swings at him - he is reported to have stolen his wallet and, when caught, threw it to the ground.

According to MailOnline, cases of theft and robbery have become more frequent in the British capital. Gangs of robbers on electric bikes are terrorizing city streets, attacking children and women and robbing them of mobile phones and other valuables.

The series of such attacks shocked many Londoners. According to statistics, mobile phones in London are stolen every six minutes. Nearly 91,000 phones were stolen in the city in 2022, an average of 248 per day, and only two percent of stolen devices were recovered. In comparison, from 2017 to 2022, there were approximately 31,000 cases of mobile phone theft.

The latest data also shows that between April and September 2023, crime in the metro increased by 56 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Subway thefts are up 83 percent and robberies are up nearly 107 percent. This is despite passenger numbers falling by 11 percent.
