An American set fire to a house out of revenge, but got the wrong address (5 photos)
In 2020, Kevin Buie, now 20 years old, hatched a barbaric plan to get revenge for a stolen iPhone. The guy set fire to the house of alleged thieves. An innocent family of five, including children, died in the fire.
A few years ago, 16-year-old Bui used the Find My iPhone app to track his smartphone to a Denver neighborhood. Late at night, he and his friends started an arson, but made the wrong address. A family from Senegal was burned: 29-year-old Djibril Diol, 23-year-old Aja Diol and their 22-month-old daughter Khadija Diol, as well as 25-year-old relative Hassan Diol and her 6-month-old daughter Hawa Beye.
Three more suffered fractures when they jumped from the second floor of a burning building.
Surveillance cameras showed Bui and two of his friends wearing masks and hoods when they set the house on fire.
Police found the suspects when Google returned IP addresses used to search for the house's address. The teenagers were arrested 5 months after the arson.
Dillon Siberath, who was 14 years old at the time, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Gavin Seymour, 19, was sentenced to 40 years.
Buie, who was tried as an adult, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder and received 30 years for each count.
