A Venezuelan woman explained why many local girls get silicone breasts (6 photos)
In Venezuela, the best gift for a girl on her birthday, graduation, or any other significant occasion, or even without it, is plastic surgery for breast enlargement.
From the very first days in Caracas, I noticed that on their streets, in shops, and cafes there were a lot of spectacular girls, with impressive figures and shapes. And I caught myself thinking that I see this as quite surprising, because... they were noticeably different from the girls in other Latin American countries I had visited.
And then later, in a conversation with one of the local girls, I suddenly found out how it all really was. And, as it turned out, Venezuelans very often have everything that is possible “done”: lips, cheekbones, noses, breasts, buttocks, ankles.
Moreover, with great surprise I learned that Venezuela ranks one of the first places in the world in terms of the number of plastic surgeries per 100 thousand people!
And this despite the fact that the country is poor, in a constant economic crisis, and many people cannot afford anything at all, let alone plastic.
What motivates Venezuelan girls in such a frantic desire for “tuning” with the last, often borrowed money? Why do they seriously jump for joy when they receive a certificate to a plastic surgery clinic from their parents as a 20th birthday gift?
Obviously not for the sake of photos on social networks?
Although this is also the case, this is not the only reason.
I talked about this topic with a local girl, Linda, on Margarita Island, who is a size four. And she opened my eyes to all these things.
Foreigngram, TikTok and other social networks, in fact, have a serious influence on modern young girls in this country. And since by their nature many of them are really very beautiful and have a spectacular figure, they want to be even more perfect, even brighter, and get more likes and views.
And the girls simply join in this race: “Laura made herself a titi, and now I need the same ones...”
But social networks appeared only in the 2010s, and Venezuelans have been interested in plastic surgery for much longer. This means that there are other reasons that encouraged people to join this race much earlier, in the 2000s and 90s.
And Linda told me what was the matter and why her mother made herself a large size back when mobile phones could only make calls and there was no trace of social networks.
It's all about beauty pageants!
Every Venezuelan dreams of winning such a competition. Local, national, Miss World or Universe.
And it turns out that Venezuelans most often became all these different “misses” at the world level. So this dream has been looming for girls since adolescence, which is fueled by constant new examples of the next winners, about whom everyone and everywhere in their environment is talking.
This is how, in pursuit of beauty, many Venezuelan girls have become regular clients of plastic surgery clinics, and the bodies produced are not only not condemned or criticized in society, but are encouraged in every possible way by both men and parents, who often finance their daughters’ desires.
