In the Odessa region, pilots of a Yak-52 piston training aircraft shot down a Russian reconnaissance drone.
The corresponding videos were published by local telegram channels, Censor.NET reports.
The released video shows the moment an enemy reconnaissance drone descends by parachute, which most likely opened as a result of the automatic operation, around which the Yak-52 is circling.
It can be assumed that the shooting was carried out by the second crew member from a gun or automatic weapon.
Modernization of the Yak-52 with the installation of forward machine gun armament in the wing or side is unlikely due to the need for significant and technologically complex intervention in the airframe. Targeting can be carried out by third-party target designation through radio communications and a situational awareness system, followed by visual identification of the target.
It should be noted that the Yak-52 in the Yak-52B modification still has the ability to hang GUV-8700 containers with machine guns or UB-32 with unguided aircraft missiles, but this version existed in a single copy.
