The police tracked down and arrested the guy who stole a gold chain
A CCTV camera installed in a jewelry store in Wuhan captured the moment a gold chain was stolen by a 19-year-old attacker.
A thief entered a retail establishment and asked to see the thickest and heaviest gold chain. Unsuspecting employees provided him with a 70-gram piece of jewelry worth more than 40,000 yuan (more than $5,000). After looking in the mirror, the young man suddenly ran out of the store and disappeared into a crowded street. One of the employees of the robbed establishment managed to warn the police, who, having received video footage from surveillance cameras, began searching for the attacker.
The resulting video evidence led law enforcement to two important leads: the suspect took a taxi in the Wuchang train station area and he was seen wearing the uniform of a local barbecue restaurant, suggesting he had previously worked there. During a visit to the eatery, it was discovered that the suspected young man, who came from Gansu Province, had only worked at the eatery for three days and quit.
Continuing their search at the train station, police eventually spotted Lee late at night. Law enforcement officers arrested the thief and found stolen jewelry in his possession. During the investigation, Li admitted that working in a barbecue restaurant seemed too hard to him and due to lack of funds, he decided to commit theft and then leave Wuhan. The recovered jewelry was returned to the jewelry store, where employees praised police for their quick and successful investigation.
