Simba, a sleep technology company, conducted a sociological survey. And then, with the help of artificial intelligence, she clearly showed how lack of sleep can affect a person’s appearance.

We are constantly reminded that we should get at least seven hours of sleep every night. But in reality, many people sleep much less than the allotted time - there can be a lot of reasons, from small children to stress at work or in personal relationships.

Experts warn: your face will pay the price for lack of adequate sleep. Here's what can happen to it if you don't get enough sleep.

Dark circles under the eyes, extra wrinkles, dry and sagging skin, general tension and a tired appearance can all serve as a reminder of how important it is to get enough sleep.

To create the images, Simba first surveyed 2,000 Britons about their sleep patterns and facial aesthetics. The results showed that more than half of respondents sleep less than the recommended seven hours a night, with people over 55 suffering the most.

As for the effects on the face, women reported noticing slight wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin, as well as looking tense and tired.

Men, on the other hand, reported bags under their eyes, dry skin and fatigue when they didn't get enough sleep.

Age appears to play an important role in the manifestation of these effects.

Among all sleep-deprived participants, 12 percent reported dry skin, but among 18-24 year olds this figure jumped to 20 percent. Moreover, almost a third of this age group experienced bags under their eyes after poor sleep, while the average figure is 20 percent.

Among older participants, the main side effect of sleep deprivation was dark circles under the eyes.

Using the data obtained, the researchers used AI to imagine what men and women of different ages would look like if they were chronically sleep deprived.

“Not getting enough sleep, especially over long periods of time, can harm both your intelligence and your body, and even affect your skin, regardless of your age,” the study said. “Genetics play a role in how we look as we age, but regular sleep deprivation can make things worse.”
