NASA confirmed that the object that fell on the American's house turned out to be space debris (4 photos)
As it turned out, a part of the fastening of a garbage container fell on the house of a Florida resident.
The American Space Agency (NASA) has finally confirmed to everyone the obvious fact that the house of a Florida resident was almost completely pierced by a blank from outer space. Interestingly, NASA specialists were able to identify this item. It turned out to be an element for fastening the tray for batteries from the ISS.
On the right is a melted and deformed object, weighing almost a kilogram, that went through Alejandro's house. On the right is an identical but intact cylinder, made of heat-resistant material Inconel, measuring 10 × 4 cm and weighing 700 grams
Let us recall that the incident occurred on March 8, 2024, a few minutes after the spent batteries ejected from the ISS entered the atmosphere. The owner of the damaged house, Alejandro Otero, spoke about the incident on social networks, asking his friends and subscribers to contact NASA. We managed to get through, but it took a whole month.
Let us add that the spent battery pack was dropped from the ISS back in March 2021. According to NASA calculations? the elements of the battery pack should not have reached the Earth. But as practice has shown, not all the garbage burned in dense layers of the atmosphere.
The same container with used batteries. It is noted that the container weighing 2.6 tons, dropped in March 2021, was the heaviest cargo ever disposed of on the ISS.
