The Lego company has banned the US police from covering the faces of criminals with their little men (5 photos)
After the law was signed, police officers in Marrieta (California, USA) are required to cover the faces of criminals and their families. Now they have started doing this with pictures.
A law has been passed in California that prohibits the publication on the Internet of photographs of criminals with their faces exposed, as well as photographs of their family members. This law is aimed at protecting suspects and convicts, as well as their families, reports the Daily Mail.
“The Marrieta Police Department prides itself on being transparent with the community, but also respects everyone's rights,” explained Marrieta Police officials.
In principle, there is some common sense here. Not all family members are ready to admit their relationship with a rapist or murderer. However, the Marrieta police decided to get creative and began covering the faces of the criminals with pictures: cartoon characters.
Not everyone liked the dubious decision. After all, beloved cartoon characters do not fit in with lawbreakers. But the representatives of the Lego company were most outraged.
“The Lego Group contacted us and asked us not to use their property in our content. We accept the requirements and will comply with them,” the Marietta Police Department said in a statement.
