A hangar filled with rare Mercedes found in South Africa (7 photos)
A hangar has been discovered in South Africa in which more than two hundred rare cars are gathering dust. These are the remains of the collection of local resident Louis Coetzer, the bulk of which his heirs have already sold. A similar fate awaits the cars found now.
Louis Coetzer collected cars almost his entire life, preferring the Mercedes-Benz brand. His selection was considered the largest in South Africa. The collector died in a car accident along with his wife in 2020, and his heirs decided to sell off the cars, putting about 240 examples up for auction.
As it turned out, they only knew about half of the collection. When Kutzer's vast land holdings were examined, which they also decided to put up for auction, a huge hangar was discovered, and in it - about two hundred more cars, covered with a thick layer of dust. It is claimed that the size of the room is comparable to the area of three tennis courts. Mostly Mercedes-Benzes from the 1960s and 1970s were stored here. In addition, many spare parts were found in the hangar.
Kutzer’s heirs also do not intend to keep this selection for themselves. It is already known that the cars will be put up for an online auction scheduled for March 25.
