In the US state of Alabama, the heirs of a recently deceased collector decided to part with his collection of 23 cars. The main part consisted of Chevrolet Corvette sports cars of different generations and most were in new condition.
The cars' owner, Earl Trammell, died last year. He was an avid car enthusiast all his life, relatives said. However, the collection was collected not only as a hobby: Trammell saw it as an investment.
Seven of the 23 cars traveled less than 200 kilometers. So, the 1998 Corvette Indy pace car stands with 37 kilometers on the odometer. The oldest Corvette in the collection is a 1971 Stingray coupe with 2.6 thousand kilometers.
Trammell also had some well-used examples. The 1965 Ford Mustang convertible has driven almost 150,000 kilometers, and the Chevrolet 210, released in 1956, has exceeded 100,000 kilometers.
The only non-American car in the collection is a 1996 Porsche 911 C4S. Considering the condition of the cars and the fact that some examples are limited editions, the cost of each lot should be quite high. The amount the entire meeting cost is not disclosed.
