AGTZ Twin Tail presented - a very expensive transformable sports car (10 photos + 1 video)
Atelier Zagato presented a new work created in collaboration with La Squadra - the AGTZ Twin Tail coupe. The project is based on the Alpine A110 coupe and references Leman's unusual Alpine A220 prototype from the late 1960s. A direct hint of the family connection is the unusual feature of the AGTZ Twin Tail: the rear bumper of the sports car is partially removable.
According to the developers, the possibility of transforming the stern allows you to combine two cars in one sports car - a “long-tailed” Long Tail with aerodynamics for maximum speeds and a shortened sports car for shorter “grips”. In fact, this is a repeat of the history of one of the seven Alpine A220 sports prototypes. Initially, the model was developed for long endurance races, but after a series of failures, the rear of the sports car was shortened by 30 centimeters and sent to rallying.
In the case of the AGTZ Twin Tail, the transformation is even more radical: after removing the removable part, the sports car becomes shorter by 622 millimeters.
Zagato has not announced any changes to the powertrain. It is possible that the A110 engine was not changed: it is a 1.8-liter turbo engine, developing up to 300 hp, depending on the version. and 340 Nm. The standard sports car can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.
In total, the studio plans to produce only 19 of these “transformers” at a price of 650 thousand euros, including body coloring at the customer’s choice. Part of the Twin Tail edition has already been sold out. In a specially filmed video, the partners showed both the development process and the historical cars that became the source of inspiration for the project.
