In Florida, Sandra Sulzer suffered a severe intestinal injury during an operation involving a Da Vinci robotic surgeon. The woman suffered from intestinal cancer, and the robot, during surgery, burned through the small intestine so that the organ ruptured. After severe thermal injury, the patient did not recover and died.



This incident, which occurred due to a malfunction of Da Vinci, occurred back in 2021, and since then Sarah Sulzer's husband has been collecting the necessary documents to sue Intuitive Surgical, a company that manufactures robotic surgeons. The widower demands that the manufacturer be fined. Among other things, he would like to receive financial compensation for the damage his wife suffered.

After the same operation, which resulted in a thermal burn, the patient had to undergo another surgical intervention, which eliminated the consequences of the work of the cross-armed robot. All this time she was haunted by terrible abdominal pain, and the woman’s emotional state left much to be desired. The Sulzer family incurred additional costs for the second operation, treatment after it and rehabilitation, which cost a pretty penny. Therefore, the man wants to punish the manufacturing company for a low-quality robot.



However, Intuitive Surgical believes that when using Da Vinci, patient injury is possible - there is an indication of this on the company’s website. Sulzer himself explains that patients are not informed about possible malfunctions in the work of robotic surgeons, otherwise few would agree to this adventure.
