A Canadian accidentally discovered an old wallet with documents in a shopping center and decided to find the woman who owned it.
In Canada, a wallet lost 40 years ago was returned to its owner. CBC News reports.
Corporate investigator Andrew Medley found a lost floral wallet at a Toronto shopping center. It was located between the air duct and the hole in the wall in the staff toilet. Inside were old documents, which, to his surprise, were well preserved.
The man took the wallet to his hotel room and began looking for the woman to whom it belonged. Soon he managed to find her daughter, Vanessa Austin. He tried to contact her on social media but was unsuccessful. Medley then found out where Austin worked and came to her office to deliver the find.
A woman was shocked when she suddenly received her mother's wallet. Inside were amusement park tickets, a library card, a bank card, keepsakes from Austin's father to her mother and a photo of Austin as a child attached to her mother's immigration papers from El Salvador, her family's home country. In addition, the woman found her birth certificate in her wallet.
Austin thanked Medley for taking the time to give her the valuable item. She noted that she was glad to look at the documents thanks to which her family was able to move to Canada several decades ago. “I think most people would do the same as me,” the investigator responded.
