Cute predator ningo (8 photos)

If nature has not endowed you with enormous size, long claws or sharp fangs, you have to use cunning to survive in this cruel world.

Amazingly, this inhabitant of Australia is a predator. Although the body length of a predatory marsupial does not exceed 5 centimeters. This weighs a maximum of 15 grams. True, there is also a tail, equal in length to the body, but this does not particularly change the picture of the world.

At first glance, the ningo looks like an ordinary vole. But upon closer examination, large ears and a pointed, elongated face are revealed. And the tiny mouth of the little one is stuffed with very impressive teeth.

Ningo is a very secretive creature; it crawls out from secluded places (usually burrows) for food only under the cover of night. And here all that remains is to sympathize with those who are unlucky enough to get in the way of the little killing machine. Due to the nature of their metabolism, ningos need to eat. No, THERE IS, because the baby has to absorb a volume of food that is equal to the weight of the animal itself.

In addition to all sorts of spider bugs, ningos even attack small reptiles in order to replenish their reserves of the coveted protein. And, having had their fill, they crawl back into the fertile shadow of the hole.

With an average life expectancy of about two years, the female bears only one litter. The animal has only six nipples, which is smaller compared to its brothers in the order and family. And since sometimes more babies are born, one or two, sadly, do not have time to crawl to the pouch and gain a foothold there. Natural selection is cruel...

The animals have learned to tolerate the heat well in their dungeons. But kids can’t cope with the cold. And the body found a way to protect itself - to hibernate until better times. The method is effective, and the population is preserved.

But if for some reason it becomes problematic to find a suitable candidate for the role of father in its population, the female can follow the groom to the neighboring one. Romance is no stranger to these fanged babies. This means that the small and very cautious ningo is definitely not in danger of extinction.
