Border control officers detained a Russian at Sheremetyevo airport who tried to take a suitcase full of precious metal out of the country. In total, the smuggler's hand luggage contained 25 refined gold bars weighing 36 kilograms. According to the examination, the value of the seized gold is at least $1 million.

The FSB noted that the Khimki City Court of the Moscow Region has already sentenced the detainee - he will spend the next 5 years and 1 month in a general regime colony.

Unfortunately for us, the seized gold was turned into the income of the Russian Federation. Some media write that the convict refused to say where he got so much gold from.

What prevented the Russian from transferring to crypto remains a mystery.
