10-year-old boy injured during shark dive (6 photos + 2 videos)
Footage of a shark attack on a 10-year-old child in the Bahamas has gone viral. The incident occurred at the aquarium at the Atlantis resort, Paradise Island, on January 15. 
Concerned bystanders can be heard discussing what happened as the water turns bloody. While the boy is trying to get out, the sharks are frantically circling in the aquarium.
Blue Adventures by Stuart Cove, which offers shark diving, said the guest was in the water with an "instructor."
The boy was rushed to the hospital. He was in serious condition and was transported to Maryland, USA, on January 17 for further treatment.
According to sources, during the dive, the boy and his companion sank to the bottom of the aquarium; the child was wearing a large white helmet and a heavy oxygen tank.
Two reef sharks began to swim around him, one of them slipped through his legs. The boy lost his balance and leaned on the shark, which responded by biting into his leg.
In another video, staff pull a boy from the water as a woman off-camera says: "He got bitten by a shark, mom." Sobs are heard, the man asks for help.
Organizers of the dangerous activity said: "We have launched a thorough investigation and are cooperating with the authorities. Incidents like this involving interactions with marine life are rare but unacceptable. Diving will be stopped while the investigation continues."
The Atlantis resort website says that anyone over 10 years old can dive with sharks; it is not necessary to know how to swim.
