Many people know the story of Dee Dee Blanchard and Gypsy Rose. And many people know what a bloody massacre the story of a daughter and her mother, who suffered from Munchausen syndrome in the third person, ended with.

A quick summary before I talk about Gypsy and what's going on with her now.

Munchausen syndrome in third person (or delegated) is a form of abuse of a loved one (usually the victim parent or child), in which the author of the abuse creates a false impression that the victim has a variety of diseases. Munchausen syndrome is when a person constantly “searches” and “finds” symptoms of a variety of diseases in himself. But in the case of third-person syndrome, a loved one becomes the victim. A person with the syndrome artificially causes all the signs of illness in order to consult a doctor. Deaths are common.

The syndrome is very difficult both in diagnosis and treatment.

Dee Dee and Gypsy

Dee Dee Blanchard was just the mother who suffered from this syndrome and, thanks to the Internet, the story of her courageous but developmentally delayed girl Gypsy in a wheelchair, with a feeding tube in her stomach, with leukemia and dystrophy, became known not only in the USA , but also beyond. You can read more about everything that happened to Gypsy and how her mother abused her here.

After Gypsy forced her Internet fan Nick Godejohn to kill her mother, the police quickly tracked down the criminal couple and they were both arrested. The public was divided into two camps - someone said that, be that as it may, Gypsy could have chosen a different path to escape, but someone realized that she simply had no other choice, since she was under the colossal influence of her mother .

Today, Gypsy Rose is no longer a timid little girl, but a 32-year-old girl who has left a correctional center in Missouri. She was released early at the end of December 2023, when she had served 85% of her sentence (she received 10 years and pleaded guilty) and this is what she said in an exclusive interview:

"Now no one will ever say I'm proud of what I did or glad she's dead. I'm not proud of what I did. I regret it every day."

Gypsy also said:

"She didn't deserve this. She was a sick woman, and unfortunately I wasn't educated enough to see that. She deserved to be where I am now - sitting in prison, serving time for criminal behavior."

Gypsy with her husband

While Rose was behind bars, she was able to get married and today, with her husband Ryan, they are planning to have children. Gypsy restored her relationship with her father, whom Dee Dee simply did not allow her to see, and spends a lot of time with her husband. In fact, before prison, she was deprived not only of a healthy life, but also of socialization, normal communication with peers and family.

“I still have a lot to learn, I only have my own point of view. So when I talk to my family, I constantly learn new revelations from them that I didn’t even know about. I have my own version of life, and everyone else has a different version of my life".
