The infographic details the rare A-50 aircraft and why its destruction is important.

The destruction of Russian A-50 and Il-22 aircraft can delay missile attacks, - press secretary of the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine Natalya Gumenyuk.

She claims that the use of the A-50 made it possible to most fully reveal the situation with future targets. Therefore, we can hope that such a strike will be quite effective and, at a minimum, will slow down possible missile attacks in the future.

Russian military source FighterBomber claims that Ukraine has nothing to do with the loss of the Russian A-50 aircraft.

As a result of the incident, 11 (according to other sources 12) military pilots were killed, he claims.

Suspicion of friendly fire.

The Ukrainian conflict is a US problem, it is their interests. The European Union will become a vassal of the United States. We must begin peace negotiations without American participation. We must stop this murder.

- Ukrainian media claim that the Ukrainian army used the FrankenSAM hybrid air defense system in combat conditions for the first time.

The FrankenSAM program combines modern Western caliber surface-to-air missiles with modernized launchers or Soviet-era radars that Ukrainian forces already have on hand.

There are three variants of these improvised air defense systems:

1- A combination of Soviet Buk launchers and American Sea Sparrow missiles.

2. A fusion of Soviet-era radars and American Sidewinder missiles.

3- Unknown air defense system with missiles and elements from Patriot.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces used the FrankenSAM air defense system for the first time in combat conditions. She shot down Shahed from a distance of 9 kilometers.

FrankenSAM is an air defense system created as a result of cooperation between the Pentagon, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Strategic Industry. This hybrid system includes three air defense systems: the Soviet Buk with American RIM-7 Sea Sparrow missiles, AIM-9M air-to-air missiles using Soviet radars, and air defense systems based on Ukrainian legacy systems using elements and Patriot missiles .

- Turkish and Chinese banks began to strictly monitor transactions with Russians due to US regulatory measures

Turkish companies exporting goods to Russia have encountered difficulties with payments due to inspections and audits by the authorities. The country has tightened control over transfers from Russia, Mustafa Gültepe, chairman of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly, told Reuters.

According to him, difficulties with Russian payments have become more frequent over the past 15-20 days. Gültepe noted that such situations had not previously arisen when working with Russian companies not included in Western sanctions lists.

Problems with money transfers from Russia to Turkey arose against the backdrop of regulatory measures by the Administrationtions on control of foreign assets of the US Treasury, a source in the Turkish banking industry told TASS. He noted that due to the “too broad wording,” Turkish banks, fearing secondary sanctions, had “the need to obtain additional clarification” from American officials.

Due to the same US regulatory measures, Chinese state banks have tightened the conditions for providing services to Russian clients, Bloomberg writes, citing sources. Over the past few weeks, at least two Chinese banks have begun rethinking their interactions with Russia and, most notably, cross-border transactions.

Chinese credit institutions are going to sever relations with clients from the sanctions lists, the agency notes, and stop providing any financial services to the Russian military sector, regardless of currency and location of operations.

In addition, Chinese lenders will strengthen due diligence on clients and determine whether they have ties to Russia. The checks will also affect foreigners who do business in Russia or supply critical goods there.

- Recently, the SBU reported the detention of a saboteur who installed GPS trackers near power line supports. It seems like nothing interesting, BUT:

This method of “targeting” indicates a huge CEP (Circular Probable Deviation) of the missile or Shahed-136 during an attack.

For at least some accuracy, they have to use radio beacons as a guidance method.

And here, at least partially, the consequences of the sanctions are visible - due to the replacement of original components, the performance characteristics are deteriorating.

Also, something interesting - judging by open data from the Internet, on January 13 (recent missile attack) 3-4 missiles fell on the territory of the Russian Federation, not reaching Ukraine.

At the same time, about 40 missiles were launched that day, and this indicates a significant percentage of missile production defects.

- According to some reports, the commander of long-range aviation of the Russian Air Force, Lieutenant General Oleg Vladimirovich Pchela, was on board the A-50 aircraft.

- About panties

- How the A-50 was shot down according to Forbes:

Ukrainian Su-24s attacked the occupied Crimea. Several radars were disabled, suppressing Russian ground radar coverage;

Russian commanders ordered the A-50U to move further north to expand radar coverage over much of Crimea. Along with it was an Il-22M air command post;

The northernmost flight path of the A-50 is within the Patriot's range;

Patriot and S-300 were likely operating, turning on the latter's radar for a few seconds to obtain target data. And then they started launching rockets.

- Vadim Khrasko, convicted of donations, died in a Belarusian colony. He became the fourth political prisoner to die in prison

On the night of January 9, 50-year-old political prisoner Vadim Khrasko, who was sentenced to three years in a general regime colony in the case of donations, died in the Belarusian colony No. 3 “Vitba”. The official cause of death is pneumonia, the Belarusian service of Radio Liberty reports.

According to the Viasna human rights project, Khrasko had several diseases that began to progress after he ended up in the colony. The man became ill on the night of January 8th and was taken to the hospital, where he died from complications.

Vadim Khrasko was sentenced to three years in prison in the case of financing extremist activities (Article 361-2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) in August 2023. The reason for the case against the man was donations, which, according to investigators, he sent to several organizations banned in Belarus.

Khrasko did not admit guilt and filed an appeal against the court decision. In October last year, the Supreme Court panel upheld the earlier sentence, despite the man's serious illness.

Khrasko, according to Viasna, became the fourth Belarusian political prisoner to die in prison.
