Chinese scuba divers' training begins in diapers. This is because the Chinese believe that learning to swim early helps children develop coordination, strength and endurance.

The training begins with children getting used to water. They are immersed in water in diapers and taught to float on their backs. They are then taught basic swimming skills such as frontstroke, breaststroke and board swimming.
