Emily Marie Bouchot and her waist, which determined her fate (9 photos)
Having a waist is not only about beauty, but also about health. But still, for representatives of the fair half of humanity, the cherished 60 centimeters play a more important role precisely from the standpoint of aesthetics.
At the beginning of the century before last, the talents of artists became secondary from the point of view of the public. They began to prioritize appearance, which had to be either very attractive or extraordinary.
This girl discovered and throughout her entire career cultivated exactly that – a special waist. Against the background of which talents basically faded into the shadows, even if they existed.
Emilie Marie Bouchaud, who later became famous under the pseudonym Pauline Poehler, was born in Algeria in 1874. The family was large and very poor. Of the 11 children, seven died in infancy.
After the death of the father, the mother got married and moved the children to Paris. Then Emily returned to be raised by her grandmother, and moved to France when she was already a young attractive girl.
Her brother helped her get a job in a music hall, where Busho performed under the sonorous pseudonym “Polar Star” (Poehler), winning the favor of the public.
With a small height of 161 centimeters, the singer and dancer had quite curvaceous figures, which looked especially impressive against the backdrop of a thin waist. According to some sources, it was 41, according to others, only 33 centimeters.
What is noteworthy is that it was originally a natural feature of the girl. In her memoirs, Poehler mentioned that at the beginning of her career she wore special thickening pads in order to look like an ordinary woman and not shock the public. But then I realized that physiology can be made a unique feature. And the waist should be demonstrated and emphasized, and not hidden.
To make it even more shocking, the artist began cutting her hair short, wearing short skirts and highlighting her eyes with bright makeup. After a tour to the States, she returned to Paris with an exotic piece of jewelry - a nose ring, which attracted the attention of many artists and photographers who wanted to get an unusual model as a model.
Between 1909 and 1935, the woman starred in more than three dozen films by American and French directors.
Poehler spent the last years of her life in oblivion and depression, when the public lost interest in her. The owner of an amazing waist passed away in 1939 at the age of 65.
