McLaren has declassified the GTS coupe, which will be positioned as a supercar for every day. It retains the dynamics and handling familiar to McLaren, but at the same time is more comfortable to use and suitable for long trips. The GTS is expected to be a replacement for the GT grand tourer introduced in 2019: the new product is slightly lighter, more powerful and faster.





Like the McLaren GT, the new car is based on the company's Monocell II-T carbon and aluminum monocoque with double wishbone suspension and adaptive dampers. However, the dry weight of the supercar was reduced by 10 kilograms - to 1456 kilograms, despite improved sound insulation.

The previous power unit was also retained: the GTS was equipped with a four-liter V8 in combination with a seven-speed “robot”. At the same time, the engine was boosted from the previous 620 to 635 hp, although the amount of thrust of 630 Nm did not change. Acceleration time to 100 km/h and top speed are the same as the McLaren GT - 3.2 seconds and 326 km/h, but the new model reaches 200 km/h one tenth faster - in 8.9 seconds.

Among the differences in the chassis is a faster system for lifting the body on the front axle for passing obstacles, which performs its task in 4 seconds, and three modes of operation of the driving electronics. There are sport, track and comfort presets - when choosing the latter, the exhaust sound is additionally muffled.

The main advantage of the GTS compared to other supercars, in addition to more comfortable habits, will be two spacious trunks. The front one is designed for 150 liters, and 420 liters of space is organized above the engine compartment.

The equipment of the McLaren GTS will include, for example, an electrochromic roof with adjustable transparency, a new media system with improved performance and a 7-inch screen, 12 Bowers & Wilkins speakers and specially designed, especially comfortable seats. These are available for an additional fee, as are a number of personalization options. At the same time, McLaren does not name the price of the supercar.

The McLaren GTS could be the last new model from the British brand to feature a non-electrified powertrain. In November, company representatives said they were carefully studying the benefits that a full switch to hybrid drive could bring.
