A spiteful critic tried to shame Pierce Brosnan's wife, but he was not supported (8 photos)

An anonymous person posted pictures of Pierce Brosnan and his wife with a sarcastic caption on his X page. Pierce and Keeley are one of the rare Hollywood couples whose relationship has lasted for several decades.





The internet troll who goes by the name “Rx Redpill” lives in Austin, Texas. He calls himself a "men's rights educator." The American published photographs of the couple taken ten years apart on his X profile. His caption read: "Your daily reminder why you shouldn't get married." An obvious hint about the excess weight of the wife of the actor playing James Bond.



60-year-old model, journalist and producer Keely Shay Smith has been married to 70-year-old Pierce Brosnan since 2001. The couple has two sons.

Rx Redpill hinted at women "letting themselves go" in marriage. Of course, this is an old trope, perpetuated by misogynists.



A study published in the journal Families, Systems, & Health in 2014 found that men are more likely to "let themselves go" during family life.

The researchers used data from Project EAT, which tracked the diet, physical activity and weight of about 2,300 US men. About 35% were unmarried, 42% were in a committed relationship, and 23% were married.

The results showed that married men were 25% more likely to be overweight or obese than single men or those in committed relationships.



Since its publication on December 19, Rx Redpill's post has received 55.8 million views, with hundreds of people rushing to voice their displeasure.

"Our daily reminder that you are a shallow misogynist," wrote one user X.

The second demanded: “Publish your photo, let’s see if you have a chance of getting married.”

Another commenter chimed in: "You've never touched a woman consensually."





Many called the man an incel, which follows from his nickname.

Incels are members of a subculture who describe themselves as unable to find a sexual partner despite wanting to do so. The idea of a "red pill" is common in the community. "Taking the red pill" usually means seeing a world in which feminism has given women too much power over men.



Rx Redpill's post went so viral that TV presenter and John McCain's daughter Meghan McCain commented: "You know Pierce is obsessed with her, right? Absolutely obsessed, talks about it in interviews all the time. And they've been married for 20 years."



Pierce Brosnan recently told People magazine: "I found the perfect match in Keely Shay. Even if I looked a million times, I couldn't find anything better." The Irish actor also called his wife his “best friend.”
