Ford F-150 Raptor R became the most powerful pickup truck in the world (7 photos)
As part of the global update of the F-150 family, Ford has introduced an upgraded version of its most extreme pickup truck, the Raptor R. The main change is an improved engine, the output of which turns the car into a leader in the gasoline pickup truck segment. In addition, the Raptor R received a modified chassis and slightly modified appearance.
Ford equips the F-150 Raptor R with a 5.2-liter 8-cylinder supercharged engine borrowed from the Shelby GT500. Before restyling in the metric measurement system, it developed 710 hp. With. and 868 Nm. Now the company has equipped this engine with a modified air intake system and new firmware for the control unit, adding another 20 forces.
As a result, the engine develops 730 hp. With. with the same torque figures, although the manufacturer notes that maximum thrust is now available in a wider rpm range. Thus, the F-150 Raptor R surpassed the Ram 1500 TRX in terms of power, which was equipped with a 712-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 and was positioned as the most powerful production pickup truck on the planet. Moreover, the new engine makes the Raptor R more powerful than some passenger supercars.
During the restyling, a new front bumper was developed, equipped with different 37-inch tires and upgraded Fox Dual Live shock absorbers were used in the suspension. The head optics, as far as can be judged from the photo, were not changed, although the standard F-150 acquired different headlights some time ago. There are no images of the interior yet, as well as information about the appearance of the pickup truck on sale.
Meanwhile, the 712-horsepower competitor of the new product will soon completely leave the automobile market. The Ram brand announced that it will abandon the TRX version with the start of production of the updated 1500 family. It will be replaced by a more modest modification, in which the V8 will be replaced by a Hurricane inline six, developing 540 horsepower.
