“Anoxia and irreversible brain damage. She'll never wake up." Peggy Means heard these words for five years. But I didn’t believe it. And then a miracle happened.





41-year-old Jennifer Fluellen from Niles, Michigan, whose story was published by People, was involved in an accident on September 25, 2017. On that completely ordinary day, the woman took the children to school and went to work. But suddenly she crashed into a pole and lost consciousness. Jennifer fell into a coma, and doctors did not give positive prognosis or hope. But the woman’s mother, Peggy, continued to believe in a miracle and visit her daughter in the hospital.

Last summer, she sat in Jenn's room as usual and told her a joke. Suddenly something happened that Peggy didn’t believe was real at first: Jenn laughed. She came out of a coma almost five years later. Speech did not return, but she understood her mother's words, smiled and nodded.

Doctors again turned out to be very cautious in their forecasts. But Fluellen can already sit and say some words. And in October she completely surprised the public and became the star of the town.

The fact is that the woman sent her sons to a sports school early, deciding that football would help the boys avoid temptations and addictions. She missed her older children's graduation matches for obvious reasons. But I was able to attend the match of my youngest 18-year-old son. About 11 months have passed since I came out of the coma.

The guy was incredibly happy and said that his mother’s presence was the best support for him. Remarkably, these were not just words: Julian scored the first touchdown, and then three more, leading his team to a 56-18 victory.

The stands supported the selfless mother, who cheered louder than anyone else for her charges.



Rehabilitation

Means is retired and spends every day with her daughter on her road to recovery, with the ultimate goal of helping her walk again. The sons try not to remind her of the past and encourage their mother. After years of uncertainty, there is hope for the Fluellen family.
