The first photos of the new generation Lancia Ypsilon hatchback without camouflage were taken when the five-door was removed from a canal in the French commune of Montbéliard. The newspaper L'est Republicain published a photo without specifying the model, but the brand logos are clearly visible on the hatchback.
The publication claims that the car was stolen and may have been used to commit a crime. But how he got into the water is not specified - the police refuse to comment on the incident. They had to get the five-door out with the help of divers and a crane.
Photos show gloss black wheel arch cladding, rear door handles hidden in the C-pillars and Y-shaped graphics in the taillights. The fifth door of the hatch will receive two spoilers at once. The lower one forms a distinctive protrusion, which could also be seen in earlier spy photos of the camouflaged prototype. The lines of the roof and hood of the new hatchback are vaguely reminiscent of the Opel Corsa, with which it is expected to share a platform.
Some interior details are also visible - for example, a large display in the center of the front panel.
Lancia expects to officially unveil the new generation Ypsilon in February. The hatch will debut as a full-fledged electric car, but over time it will acquire a hybrid power plant. Two years later, Lancia will show a new product called Gamma, and in 2028 - the revived Delta. By this point, the brand expects to completely abandon the internal combustion engine.
