Despite the popularization of body positivity, the majority of modern girls and women strive for a slim figure. And it is right. The main thing is to find a reasonable middle ground between appearance and health. So that you don’t have to rush from one extreme to another, like Dolly Dimples did.

Under this stage name was the artist Celeste Geyer, who went down in history as the prettiest overweight woman. The girl was born in Cincinnati (Ohio) in 1901. The large family was cheerful and friendly. And sharing hearty meals was commonplace. Therefore, it was not surprising that Celeste Hermann’s weight was growing.

The girl dropped out of school because of ridicule. But the excess weight did not repel, but rather attracted fans. Celeste married one of them, a very slender guy Frank Geyer. She herself weighed about 180 kg by that time (1922).

After the onset of the Great Depression, Celeste's husband lost his job at Ford Motor Company. And the enterprising wife took the solution to the problem into her plump hands. She got a job in a traveling circus, having, it must be said, assessed the prospects very soberly and wisely. The woman said that since they were already laughing at her, why not take money for it.

This is how the artist Dolly Dimples appeared, who instantly became the star of the nomadic troupe. When the inscription “The most beautiful plump lady in the world” appeared on the posters, people flocked to the tents like a river to admire the positive plumpness. Dolly also sang well, which gave the performances a special charm. Her husband became her manager.

To maintain a working tool - a body, with the help of which Dimples made quite a good living for herself, a day she had to consume 4 loaves of bread, two kilograms of meat and potatoes, and about a kilogram of sugar in various sweets, mainly baked goods. This was enough to feed five ordinary women. With this diet, by the age of 45, the weight reached 270 kg.

Dolly bought a house in Florida to settle down and leave the traveling circus and serious health problems behind her. On the threshold of her 50th birthday, the plump girl suffered a heart attack. Yes, so serious that she barely got out, spending a week in a coma. The doctors’ verdict was clear: lose weight.

Celeste was not a stupid woman and understood everything correctly. The basis of her diet was a banal calorie deficit. Over the course of a year, a fat woman weighing more than 250 kilograms turned into a nice, slender lady weighing 69 kilograms.

Geyer wrote the book “Diet or Die; Dolly Dimples Weight Loss Plan” based on my own experience. The woman was included in the Guinness Book of Records for losing the most weight in the shortest period of time. For the rest of her life (and Celeste lived quite a long time - 81 years old), she remained an active supporter of moderation in food, physical activity and exercise.
