“Cursed woman” wiped the nose of her fellow villagers and became a record holder (4 photos)
"Strong and resilient." Doctors honored their unusual patient with these epithets.
According to the Daily Mail, on November 29 this year, Ugandan resident Safina Namukwaya gained fame. And double happiness. A 70-year-old woman has become the oldest woman to give birth in Africa and one of the oldest “young” mothers in the world.
She was tyrannized by her fellow villagers, contemptuously calling her a “damned woman” because of her inability to give birth. Safina conceived using IVF. The birth took place in a hospital in the capital of Uganda, Kampala, by caesarean section. A boy and a girl were born at 34 weeks, weighing two kilograms each. The children are completely healthy, the mother is happy, the neighbors are silent. And doctors are proud of the work done:
Celebrating our 20th anniversary, we accomplished the extraordinary thing of giving birth to twins to Africa's oldest mother at age 70! This story is not just about medical success; it is about the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
Representatives of the medical institution stated that the patient became the oldest woman in labor on the Black Continent.
According to Safina herself, pregnancy was not easy for her. At certain moments she felt that her strength had almost left her. What is noteworthy is that this is not the first birth of an elderly African woman. Three years ago she gave birth to a daughter.
Why did this woman’s life turn out this way? In 1992 she was widowed. There were miscarriages in her marriage to her first husband, but she was never able to give birth. She entered into a new relationship only a few years later, that is, it was already too late for childbirth. And only on the threshold of her 70th birthday did she give birth to a long-awaited child.
What is noteworthy is that the father of the twins never visited her in the hospital. With a high degree of probability, he will not take part in raising children. Safina clarified that the reason was precisely a multiple pregnancy: the partner was not ready for the fact that there would be several children.
History proves that if a woman wants to become a mother, then nothing will stop her. Whatever the situation may be with the moral and social side of the issue, on the universal human side I would just like to wish the family happiness, and the mother the strength to raise her long-awaited children.
