While trying to land in Hawaii, a reconnaissance plane crashed into the water (2 photos + 1 video)
It seems that the Americans have lost the Boeing P8 Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft.
The P-8A reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft was landing at 13:59 local Hawaiian time, but overshot the landing strip (Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay on the island of Oahu) and fell into the water offshore, USNI News reports. At that moment there were 9 people on board, all of them managed to get out of the ship. There were no serious injuries.
Photos of the plane, which is located about 50 meters from the coastline, appeared on social networks. According to media reports, the depth of the bay in this area ranges from 2 to 7 meters, and the bottom of the bay consists of sand, silt and corals.
The reasons for this landing are unknown. Local media reported that the plane could have crashed due to pilot error, bad weather or a combination of factors. The further fate of the air reconnaissance aircraft also remains unclear. A decision has not yet been made whether it will be returned to land and, if so, which departments will participate in this event.
