A reseller will put up a rare BMW 3.0 CSL lighter at auction (32 photos)
BMW unveiled a new M4-based version of the iconic 3.0 CSL about a year ago, promising to produce only 50 units. This car was released from the factory in August of this year and with a mileage of 33 kilometers will be auctioned at Sotheby's. The seller expects to receive from 800 thousand to 1.2 million euros.
The BMW 3.0 CSL was a kind of gift from the M division for its own 50th anniversary and at the same time a tribute to the 1970s model of the same name, known for its rich sports history. The supercar is based on the standard M4 platform, but differs from it in many innovations that affect almost all technical aspects.
The appearance of the 3.0 CSL, stylized to resemble the historical original, is realized through carbon fiber body parts, and the “connection of times” is emphasized by the original livery. Like the original 3.0 CSL, the modern version is equipped with a 6-cylinder engine. At the same time, the 560 liters sold by him. With. allowed BMW to call this version of the six the most powerful production engine of this type in the history of the brand. The engine is available only with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.
All BMW 3.0 CSLs were assembled by hand in Dingolfing, and each car took a team of 30 specialists 10 days to complete. The copy up for sale (the 44th in the lot) is additionally equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, a media system with a rear view camera and dual-zone climate control, and the transmission uses a limited-slip differential.
For what reason the new car is being put up for auction is not specified. It is possible that this is simply an attempt to make extra money by reselling a rare model. According to some reports, the base cost of the BMW 3.0 CSL was about 600 thousand euros.
