A woman put a hair on a plate to avoid paying the bill at a restaurant (4 photos + 1 video)
Tom Croft refunded a guest £12.95 for her roast beef after she claimed she found a hair in her plate. When the owner of the Observatory restaurant in Blackburn, Lancashire, decided to check the camera footage, he saw that the woman herself had put the hair in the food.
In the video, the woman whispers to the man before tearing out her black hair and placing it on a half-empty plate.
According to Croft, after this the client complained to the waiter and caused a row in the bar, and she was immediately returned the money for dinner.
“We watched the video to see what went wrong, maybe one of the employees had his hair out of place or something, but then we saw it ourselves. It’s just disgusting, I was very angry,” says the Briton.
"There are people who are willing to jeopardize a place's reputation and staff's jobs for a £12.95 dish. The chefs might think it was their fault when they did absolutely nothing wrong."
Croft has co-owned the restaurant for five and a half years, but has never experienced anything like this before.
“This has never happened to us before. If we had not found the CCTV footage, our reputation would have suffered. Nobody wants to eat in an establishment where hair is found in the food. We strictly follow the rules of hygiene and food preparation,” explained Tom .
The man wants to warn his colleagues and advises them to “keep their eyes open” so as not to overlook such scammers.
