Some people just dream, but Pavel Chilin decided to act.

Now at the dacha there are about 330 meters of rails, one a steam locomotive, a couple of carriages, a dozen switches, several semaphores and three bridge. The locomotive is real, only narrow gauge. Track width on the section - 300 mm. This is 2.5 times less than the standard narrow gauge track on traditional railways. Therefore, almost everything had to be developed with zero.



Pavel Chilin is an engineer from St. Petersburg. He's been there all his life was engaged in designing and building organs - those very musical instruments with many pipes, which are usually found in monasteries and cathedrals During his work, he built more than 60 of them. Took participated in exhibitions, won some competitions.

And after 40 years he moved with his wife to the northern suburbs capital, on a vast wetland area, which is located on small peninsula.





And at first the railway had an exclusively utilitarian meaning: Pavel laid the rails in order to move tools and building materials for the site, and built a small trolley for this.

The road gradually widened and the swamp was drained. Around there were three ponds at home, and Pavel raised their banks a little and laid the road there.

And in 2011, the idea arose to make a real steam locomotive. Here Another enthusiastic person has already come to Pavel’s aid - Sergey Terekhov, an employee of one of the depots in St. Petersburg.



Using trial and error, they built a locomotive.

The locomotive develops a power of about 5-7 hp. With. and at If necessary, it can pull a train weighing up to 30 tons. Wherein It takes several hours to melt it. But everything is maximum environmentally friendly - only water and firewood.



Now Pavel and Sergei are building a second locomotive, because the first has been working for quite a long time. Plus, you can organize the movement of two steam locomotives, and this is incredibly exciting!



Sergei and Pavel melt the locomotive almost every weekend and They give rides to everyone. They don't ask for money, but they're not out of gratitude. they refuse - this helps to develop the railway further.
