The creepy story of a girl "possessed by demons" (6 photos)
The story of the séances spread across the United States in the 1920s exorcism performed on Anna Ekland. Tales of what she howled like a wild animal, hovered in the air, attacked the priest, hissed and writhed, walked from house to house.
Upon contact with the holy water, Anna's face writhed, the stomach became stony to the touch, and the lips swelled to a terrible size. She spoke Polish, Italian, as well as Hebrew and Latin. The girl vomited incessantly. What happened?
March 23, 1882 in Marathon (Wisconsin) in a German family emigrants was born Anna Ekland. Her father was not the most prosperous man - he drank a lot and cheated on his wife. He was an opponent Catholicism, but since the girl's mother was a Catholic, Anna was raised in this religion. Father, by the way, even on his deathbed, before priest, continued, as he had done all his life, to ridicule religion and mock the priest. Even his last words were full hatred and bile.
Already at the age of 14, Anna began to show very strange things: as soon as she cross the threshold of the church, as the girl became ill. Once, after communion, Anna vomited. Any sacred objects caused her aggression and she stopped going to church.
Anna fenced herself off from people, fell into depression. Also, Anna there was Aunt Mina, about whom everyone said that she was a witch. She was mistress of the girl's father and, as if, put a curse on her when she entered adolescence. Oh those rumors. But what a lady was fond of black magic - that was for sure.
For several years, Ekland went to doctors, tried to find a rational explanation for his neuroses and occasional hallucinations. She did not think of another way out and decided to turn to the church nearby. After much research, the church officially recognized her possessed. It was here that Theophilus Risinger, a priest, appeared.

On June 18, 1912, Riesiger performed the first exorcism for Anna. The woman spoke at the same time in different languages, which she simply there was no way to know. She not only spoke them, but also understood Polish and Italian. She reacted very brownly to the reading of prayers, but It seems that the deliverance from the devil was successful.
But in 1928, Theophilus was asked to conduct of the second rite, no longer at home, but in a monastery. On August 17, Anna was taken to Herming's monastery, while maintaining heightened secrecy. As soon as the woman was brought to the appointed place, then she immediately began to have seizures furious, she hissed like a cat, refused to eat. While in "healthy mind" she expressed complete readiness to get rid of the devils inside. Three sessions of exorcism were performed. They were long, for a week. Total her stay in the monastery lasted until the end of December 1928.
Ackland was tied to the bed so that she would not have opportunity to move and undress. Risinger began to read prayers and after the beginning of the process, Anna tightly closed her eyes and did not open them until end of session. Eyewitnesses said that the woman flew around the room, freezing, as if gravity had simply ceased to act on it.
She howled, she vomited, Anna defecated in some monstrous quantities. The body changed color, the stomach was hard, the lips and eyes were scary. swollen. The nuns made a schedule of duty with the possessed, because roars and moans, at times, lasted for several hours and it was not easy.
In between sessions, Ackland suffered from nocturnal nightmares, but with the start of the third exorcism session, all of her "demons" became weaken. And on December 23 she flew up to the ceiling again, growled the names those demons that allegedly possessed her and sank down on the bed exhaustedly. Only a monstrous smell remained in the room and the body of the unfortunate woman on beds.
The priest's housekeeper recounted in her memoirs:
"I witnessed almost the entire period of exorcism in the case of Erling's obsession, and I can truthfully say that the facts mentioned in Cast Out Satan are correct. Some scenes were even more scarier than described in the brochure. I don't have the slightest doubt about that the devils were there, and I will never forget those terrible scenes nasty, dirty and dirty, while I'm alive"
She spent another four months in the convent, after which returned home. She quietly went to church and the rest of her days she lived peacefully, without excesses. And the voices in my head are no more bothered. Anna Ekland quietly passed away on November 9, 1941.
