Initially, they wanted to call the film "Heart of Hell", like the novel on which it was filmed, but the studio did not like this option, because in their opinion such a title is suitable only for a book, and not for movie. After some thought, the film was called "Sado-Masochists from the Otherworld world", but later decided that this was too much and made it more frightening and serious title.
2. Doug Bradley was offered to play either a furniture mover, or chief cenobite Pinhead. In the end, the actor chose the second option, thanks to which he became famous, thanks to which he could for a long time get into the franchise.
3. In order to apply makeup, actor Doug Bradley had to spend 6 hours in the dressing room. But it was worth it.
