They used to know how to make horror films. It made its way up goosebumps. And today I would like to remember about the cult comedy film horror "Leprechaun", released in 1993.

I will tell you some interesting facts about the film and show you some funny footage from the filming of this iconic film.

1. The film "Leprechaun" was the first feature film for actress Jennifer Aniston, where she played the title role. Before that she appeared only in episodes and various series. By the way, the role for her the director Mark Jones himself knocked out, as he really liked the acting the game of an unknown young actress.

2. The idea for the film came from a commercial for corn flakes. "Lucky charms" with cartoon leprechaun. Director Mark Jones saw cereal advertisement on TV, after which he became very interested these dwarves from Irish mythology. Mark liked that leprechauns most value their gold, and that they are capable of anything to make it protect. It was this idea that formed the basis of the future film.

But in order not to make another horror film, which, probably, forgotten among many other similar films, he decided to add to his tape elements of comedy, and did not lose.

3. In one of the scenes, the Leprechaun tries Lucky clover cereal, which is a reference to those "Lucky charms" cereals, thanks to who gave birth to the idea for the film. Is that the name and the packaging itself was changed.

4. Due to his small stature, actor Warwick Davis, who played the Leprechaun, could not perform some tricks normally. So, for example, he could not move quickly in a wheelchair in hospital, because of which he constantly crashed into the walls.

Therefore, the director went on a tricky move. Warwick Davis rode on wheelchair neatly, while Jennifer Aniston deliberately ran away from him slowly. And then at the editing this scene was simply sped up.

5. Jennifer Aniston didn't like this movie, and to this day she tries not to think about her first big project. In an interview she often says that for her this film is not a success, but rather than something bad, oh, than worth forgetting. But personally, I don't agree with her.

6. Leprechaun was filmed in the same studio as Terminator 2 movie. The film crew moved in a week after after the shooting of the cult film with Arnold Schwarzenegger ended.

But how is it? After all, the movie "Terminator 2" was released in 1991, while the film "Leprechaun" in 1993. Actually shooting a movie "Leprechaun" ended back in 1991, but in the end the picture lay on the shelf is 2 years old. And it's all about advertising. Initially, the studio agreed to ads with the stock market and the basketball team, but ended up negotiations failed.

The studio couldn't release the film without promotion, so the film had to be shelved. Only when the studio managed to negotiate with the networks fast food restaurants "Subway" and "Dominos Pizza", it's finally moved off the ground.

7. No one had high hopes for the film "Leprechaun", therefore, a modest budget of 900 thousand was allocated for the shooting dollars. But in the end, the film was financially successful and brought 8.5 million dollars, paying back the budget more than 9 times. Few expected such success.

8. Warwick Davis' makeup took just over 3 hours. Yes and on it took at least 40 minutes to remove make-up and clean the face after filming time. Thanks to this, Warwick even became friends with the make-up artist. As a result, the actor even asked the director to cast him in the film. As a result, the make-up artist appeared literally for one second as an extras actor. He played the visitor in cafe.

9. At the time, actor Warwick Davis was under contract with Studio "Lucas Films". Due to the contract, he was not eligible to act in films from other studios. Therefore, director Mark Jones personally contacted George Lucas to let him star in Leprechaun, on that Lucas gave his consent. Subsequently, the studio "Trimark Pictures" even gave Lucas an award as a thank you.

10. Viewers were disappointed when they saw the first poster for film. And all because the Leprechaun himself was spoiled on the poster, because of which all the intrigue was lost.

11. By the way, Warwick Davis played two roles in the film. Apart from the role of the Leprechaun, he appeared as a visitor to the cafe where he sat along with his wife. True, due to the large crowd of people to notice its been hard.
