Divers found a shipwreck of the III century BC (6 photos)
A team of demining divers from Croatia and Italy recently made a unique find in the Adriatic Sea. It turned out to be one of the earliest surviving shipwreck, which dates back to the 3rd century BC!
This shipwreck was discovered by the crew demining divers of the Croatian and Italian Navy, who worked near the island of Hvar in the Adriatic Sea. At the time of discovery divers went through the second week of the exercises, and all this time they were engaged search min. The exercises were held in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture Croatia, which told divers that at the bottom of the eastern Adriatic objects of archaeological value can be found.
So, with the help of equipment for searching for mines and cameras, divers accidentally stumbled upon this curious place at a depth of 50 meters. On a previously unknown shipwreck site found many ancient amphorae, dating back to the 3rd century BC. It is believed that the crash itself dates from approximately the same period - which means it is one of the earliest ever found. After discovery, the find was investigated underwater archaeologists who confirmed that the shipwreck beautifully preserved.
Experts are now conducting archaeological research objects from a shipwreck. Later they will determine what measures to take to conservation and protection of this site, and some finds, perhaps exhibited in museums.
