A small castle is up for sale in Scotland located in the Shetland Islands. Nice fortress for sale for just £30,000, but the new owner will have to to invest in the reconstruction of a monument of architecture.





Brow Lodge Castle on Fetlar Island built in 1825 by Arthur Nicholson, merchant from Lerwick. For the basis of the construction project trader took the architecture of France, Switzerland and Italy, where he often visited, therefore the castle is not like its Scottish counterparts. The mansion and the folly towers, enclosed stone walls, sold together with 16 hectares of land. Potential buyers are warned that they will have to invest more in the mini-fortress about £12 million, as the castle has worn out over 200 years.

In the offer of the Brough Lodge Trust, which owns castle, includes the preservation of existing buildings, as well as the construction restaurant and guest house for 24 seats. If the project is implemented, tourists will enjoy beautiful views of the North Sea as well as will be able to get acquainted here with the Shetland traditions of music, knitting and weaving. Proceeds from the sale of the castle will go to teaching children how to knit, which will preserve the main element of the island's cultural heritage.



Unique building on the island, home to only 61 man, has been empty since the 1980s when the last member left the Nicholson family. The foundation has since spent over £500,000 of donations to protect buildings from high humidity and build new roof.
