The BMW concern decided on an unusual for its specifics experiment by introducing an all-electric state-of-the-art boat on hydrofoils.
Named Icon, the vessel offers a comfortable movement on water at speeds up to 55 km/ h. In its development, in addition to BMW itself, shipbuilder TYDE and composer Hans Zimmer.
Externally, the design of the novelty is more like an airplane than a boat. All thanks to the "greenhouse", which occupies the space from the base of the case to the winged roof. The unusual forms are complemented by a chic interior finishing, where furniture is used, ideally suited for a triangular salon concept. Windows rising from the floor are equipped with a special system that directs light onto the carpet, creating an effect like a kaleidoscope.
And yet there is something automotive in this boat - the latest Intuitive control system including sports-style steering wheel and 32" 6K HMI touchscreen with support for proprietary BMW OS 8. It provides digital data display and control via voice commands.
The capacity of the onboard batteries is sufficient to overcome 90 kilometers of way. Composer Hans Zimmer developed the soundtrack, which passengers can enjoy while traveling thanks to the ship's general Dolby Atmos system.
