More than 1,500 items from the private collection of Freddie Mercury will be put up for auction (18 photos)
Among them are the luxurious stage costumes of the late vocalist. Queen, handwritten lyrics and original paintings of the greats artists including Pablo Picasso. All these items from a beloved home Freddie's Garden Lodge in London will be up for sale from 4 August to September 5, in honor of the rock star's 77th birthday.
The unique collection includes a copy of the Crown of St. Edward and mantle made of faux fur, red velvet and rhinestones, which the singer wore during his most famous concerts, including the legendary festival Live Aid in 1985, as well as the final performance God Save The Queen during Freddie's last tour with Queen in 1986 The lot is valued at £80,000.
Also for sale are previously unpublished handwritten lyrics to Queen's 1977 hit We Are The Champions, which occupy more than nine pages and are estimated at 200-300 thousand pounds sterling, as well as the lyrics to the hit Killer Queen worth up to £70,000.
And for 30-50 thousand pounds, Queen fans also will be able to get their hands on a 1975 Martin D-35 acoustic guitar, which, Mercury is believed to have written and recorded the hit Crazy Little Thing Called love.
The Mercury collection at Garden Lodge remained for almost 30 years untouched. After the musician died in 1991, he left home and all the property in it to his friend Mary Austin.

Before the London exhibition, the main lots of the collection will go in June to New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. Six next auctions will end with a live sale on the evening of September 6th, featuring the most significant items of the collection are presented.
For example, a luxurious ceremonial military-style jacket, created for the singer's legendary 39th birthday party in Munich in 1985, estimated at 10-15 thousand pounds. On September 7 and 8, two more live auctions will take place: the first dedicated to Mercury "On Stage", the second is dedicated to his life "At Home" and the subjects he loved and lived with at Garden Lodge.
