When this obese cat was brought to the shelter, the staff recognized - this is the largest cat they have ever seen. The owners gave the poor man to an orphanage, because they could no longer take care of him.





Fat cat named Patches ended up in an animal shelter in Virginia, USA. The previous owners took him to a shelter because could no longer take care of him. But the poor fellow was not alone. Volunteers accepted him with joy, and did everything to ensure that the cat felt good. Patches weighs 18.3 kg, and according to staff, this is the fattest cat they have ever met, and possibly one of the fattest in the world.



Employees did not understand how the owners could bring the cat to such a state. They were worried that it would be difficult for the obese cat find owners. They posted photos on social media Patches. And suddenly everyone fell in love with this fat man! He collected 3500 likes and 1800 comments. Soon a man was found who from the first look at the cat realized - it's fate.





One woman wrote to the shelter, adding to the application that she wanted take care of the health of the cat and put on a diet. Patches soon moved to a new house. Now he is happy, surrounded by love. He is accepted as what it is, but they are working on its weight.

"Now our Patches lives with the owner, sits on a special diet, doing exercises. He's neutered, got a tracking chip, and everything is fine with him," the shelter staff wrote.



By the way, in 1998 the Guinness Book of Records canceled category "the fattest cat in the world" so that the owners do not overfeed their pets just for the record. The last cat in the Book Guinness World Records as the heaviest, was a cat named Jimmy. His weight was 21.3 kilograms.
