Canadian woman sets world record for blood donation (3 photos)
Canadian resident Josephine Mikhalyuk became a donor for the first time in 22 years old, for company with older sister. And since then it hasn't stopped. donating blood regularly for almost 60 years. "I just feel like I have something to share,” she says.
The total amount of blood donated by her was 203 units, or doses, and broke the world record for female donors. The dose is about 450 ml. It turns out that this woman donated more than 90 liters of blood in her life.
I never thought about records and donated my blood for no reason. And I plan to continue.
I feel like I have something to give. I can share it with people who need it. I donate blood on average 4-5 times a day. a year and plan to continue as long as I'm alive.
Her blood type is O+ (first positive). She enjoys in high demand in hospitals as it is suitable for transfusions in people with any blood group.
And so should everyone who can. Much more people than now. The demand for blood to save lives is very high.
Previously, the record for the number of donated blood among women belonged to Madhura Kumar from India (117 units).
