In 2014, experts from the Royal Ontario Museum (Canada) went to see a blue whale washed ashore in Newfoundland.

The body of the animal was already at the stage of decomposition, but its general condition made it possible to save the heart.

It took 10 jobs to extract the heart from the carcass Human. It weighed over 250 kilograms. Without blood, the heart began flatten under its own weight and deform, so for to maintain its shape, hoses were inserted into two blood vessels, while others bottled up, and pumped over 700 gallons of formaldehyde. It did stiff muscle, stopped decomposition and forced it to accept the original form.

With the help of a loader, the heart was loaded into a special container, which was sent to the Gubener Plastinate center in Germany, where for three months, the process of plastination was performed on it.

Now it is a museum exhibit. Blue whale heart is the largest in the world, which beats with an average frequency of 5-10 beats per minute.
