Go Anywhere: Rokon Trail-Breaker 2×2 1969 (10 photos)
At all times the existence of motorcycles as a type of technology, engineering thought tried to create an all-terrain vehicle with a drive on both wheels, and ideally, also floating.
History remembers many different developments, but quite few of them were mass-produced. One of these ATVs put into production - Rakon Trail-Breaker. Released since 1964 year, this particular copy was assembled in 1969.
The most difficult thing in such structures is to organize the transfer torque to the front wheel. Here it is done with gearbox mounted under the seat, transmission shaft, which runs inside the frame and CV joint. There is also an angle gearbox in the front, from which already has a chain on the front wheel sprocket.
This whole complex system is powered by a single-cylinder 134cc two-stroke Chrysler Power-Bee engine with 10 hp. For an all-terrain vehicle, such power seems small, but this moment offset by the gear ratios of the transmission. Transmission three-stage.
Lastly, about wheels. The discs are hollow inside, made of aluminum alloy, have positive buoyancy, allowing overcome streams, small rivers and other water barriers, and on solid surface, they can be used as storage containers fuel.
