Aggressive turkey terrorizes trailer park residents in Minnesota
A Minnesota turkey has been terrorizing neighborhoods for over a year, forcing residents to carry homemade weapons to protect themselves.
Rachel Gross, 41, from Coon Rapids, never knows what to expect when she leaves the house, but she always carries a broom, water bottle, and golf club with her as a precaution after a big bird perched on her roof, attacked her in 2021.
Gladys the turkey, who showed up at the trailer park shortly before Thanksgiving that year, appears to be avenging her ancestors.
When she turns blue, the villagers know it's time to run, as she has gone into "attack mode" and will do anything to attack and peck at frightened victims.
Miss Gladys bled, pecked tires, attacked cats, and even drove Gross's husband's truck to Chipotle.
Emily Alsten, who also lives nearby, is worried about her one-year-old granddaughter, who has just moved in with her.
"I'm afraid to even take her outside," Olsten told CNN. "Especially when the weather is nice, you know, we can't invite people, we can't have a barbecue."
Neighbors have tried everything to get Gladys to leave them alone, from calling the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the police to demolishing bird feeders.
Gross and Alsten said they didn't want to hurt the turkey, but they wanted it to go to a new home.
