Deadly collision of two skiers on Elbrus caught on video
The dead extremist violated the requirements and drove out of the track fences.
The Investigative Committee of Kabardino-Balkaria is conducting an investigation into the death of a skier during the descent from the slope of Mount Elbrus. It is specified that the tragedy occurred on January 5 - a 43-year-old man flying from the mountain off the track could not part with another skier, who, according to preliminary data, left the track to rest.
As a result of the collision, the extreme sportsman received a severe injury (a fracture of the base of the skull), which resulted in instant death. The second skier was taken to the hospital with injuries, but his life is not in danger.
“According to the materials of the audit, on January 05, 2023, the deceased, a man born in 1979, having violated the requirements for downhill skiing strictly along the marked tracks, went beyond the fences and, gaining considerable speed, was unable to pass with another skier, presumably resting off the track,” they said.
