People rescued an orphan wombat who was left alone in the forest
An Australian animal sanctuary has shared a touching video of one of its residents, an orphaned wombat. The baby suckled her paw while falling asleep in the hands of a volunteer.
Australian animal sanctuary Two Songs has shared sweet and touching footage of one of its residents, an orphaned wombat. It is not known how the mother of the crumbs died, but employees suggest that this could have happened because of the hunters. Her baby was left alone - but she was rescued in time, transported to the reserve and named Summa.
When the little wombat was rescued, she weighed only 400 grams. In the video, the employee cradles her, and she sucks her paw, falling asleep sweetly. She now lives with three other wombat cubs who have also been rescued from the wild. They get along well, love to bask with the staff and play with each other.
In Australia, long-haired wombats are endangered due to habitat loss and disease. These are the smallest of all wombat species - the length of an adult is about 60 cm. They are nocturnal and feed on various vegetation.
