Details of the tragedy on Sakhalin became known

According to officials, the cause of the explosion was improper storage of gas cylinders.

On Sakhalin in the village of Tymovskoye on the street. Library building 6, today there was a gas cylinder explosion on the balcony in one of the apartments of a five-story building; the house was not supplied with gas.

As a result of the explosion, the entire entrance from the 1st to the fifth floor collapsed.

Currently, according to emergency services, the number of deaths after the explosion is 9 people, including 4 children. 6 people are considered missing. In addition, while clearing the rubble, one firefighter was injured when a piece of a slab fell on his head.

The apartments in the neighboring entrances were also damaged by the strong explosion: the doors were blown out and the façade wall came off.

Residents of the entrances adjacent to the building that exploded showed their apartments. Someone's front door was blown off, and the walls can literally fall on contact.

The residents of the house were urgently evacuated, and a temporary accommodation center with beds, food and water was organized at the local House of Culture on Kirovskaya, 68.

All emergency services are on site. An additional group was sent from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

The Sakhalin Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for causing death by negligence to two or more persons (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and for the destruction of property (Article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Now emergency services continue to search for people who may have been trapped under the rubble.

Governor Limarenko:

“The group of people and special equipment involved in clearing the rubble of a house in Tymovskoye has been increased. At the moment, 59 people and 13 pieces of equipment are working there.”
