Swedish archaeologists have found the remains of a warship that sank in the XVII century (4 photos)
Archaeologists are not only on land, but also under water - Swedish scientists have found a warship of the 17th century.
In 1629, the ship Applet was launched, which was built by the same shipbuilder who created the warship Vasa.
Vasa is a 69 meter warship equipped with 64 guns. This famous ship sank near Stockholm in the strait at islands of Vaxholm.
“Our heart skipped a beat when we saw how much the wreckage was similar to Vasa,” said a marine archaeologist from the Swedish Museum sunken ships Jim Hansson.
The wreckage of the ship was discovered earlier in December 2021, and in the spring, aquatic archaeologists conducted a more thorough study of the bottom. Swedish scientists have discovered details that were previously found in Vasa, but it turned out to be an Applet ship.
